Ghana has received a major boost following the return of the workaholic centre-back ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month.
AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu is back in training after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The 27-year-old trained with the French club on Thursday and is expected to join the club’s first-team sessions before the end of the 2025–26 season.
Salisu suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his left knee during a Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyon in January and underwent successful surgery.
He played an instrumental role in Ghana’s qualification for the World Cup for the fifth time, having featured in eight of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and scoring two goals.
Salisu is a key member of the Black Stars squad and is expected to rejoin the team under newly appointed coach Carlos Queiroz.
He becomes the second Black Stars player to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury after Ernest Nuamah of Olympique Lyon.
