Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito expressed his disappointment with his team's performance in their 2-2 draw against Heart of Lions on matchday three of the Ghana Premier League, specifically singling out goalkeeper Gidios Aseako for criticism.
The veteran coach was left frustrated by his team's failure to execute his tactical instructions, and Aseako’s attempt to imitate Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s ball-playing style.
Zito emphasized that his players, particularly the goalkeeper, strayed from his game plan, leading to unnecessary risks.
“Seriously disappointed. We call something tactical indiscipline. In the second half, I told my goalkeeper, 'this Onana stuff, Onana stuff, you have to vary and see the implications. Don’t do it if your players are not okay,’” Zito said in his post-match interview.
He further elaborated on his frustration, describing the 'Onana-style' as playing like an outfield player instead of keeping things simple. “What I mean is you playing like a footballer instead of going the simple way. It pains me. I am very, very disappointed,” he added.
Despite a late goal from Joseph Esso rescuing a point for Dreams FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Park on Monday afternoon, the team remains winless after three matches.
Dreams FC now look ahead to their next challenge against Bechem United in search of their first victory of the season.
