Former Eleven Wonders head coach Nii Odartey Lamptey has revealed that he continues to provide financial support to some of the club’s players, even after stepping down following a winless start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Odartey Lamptey, a former Ghana international, took charge of the Sure Wonders’ newcomers after their promotion to the top flight but parted ways with the club after failing to secure a victory in their first nine matches.
In a recent interview with Asempa FM, he disclosed that he still helps players with meals and transportation.
“Eleven Wonders players talk to me every day because of what I was doing for them before I left. I am still doing that. It is sad, but what can you do?” he said.
Despite highlighting the challenges at the club, Lamptey was careful not to blame the Ghana FA, led by President Kurt Okraku.
“You look at what they are going through, and they will still have to go and play games. I will never blame Kurt Okraku and the Executive Council of the GFA for what is happening in the club. I have a lot of evidence of what is happening at the club, but I am happy that J.E. Sarpong is out talking about what is happening at the club.”
He added further insight into his personal support for the players: “I am no longer the head coach of the club, but some of the players come to my house and eat, and I give them transportation as well. I feel very emotional about what has happened.”
Eleven Wonders, who are currently sitting bottom of the league with just three points, will hope to secure their first win of the season when they host Dreams FC in Matchday 12 this weekend.
