Young Apostles head coach Asare Bediako has sought to clarify his recent comments following his team's 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko.

During the post-match press conference, Bediako appeared to suggest that coaches from Kumasi, like his counterpart  Prosper Ogum Narteh should be given more opportunities to manage the Porcupine Warriors.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Bediako explained that his remarks were not intended to undermine Narteh's efforts but rather to highlight the talent and potential of players and coaches from Kumasi who excel when given the chance at Kotoko.

“I was excited about drawing with Asante Kotoko because Young Apostles is a young team. It felt like a victory for us. We studied them closely before the match, and while they managed to earn a point, we had prepared our players very well,” Bediako stated.

He emphasized his belief in the value of local talent, saying, “Kumasi needs Kumasi. It's not just about coaches but also about players. Many northerners who were born and raised in Kumasi have played for and coached Kotoko successfully. I believe there should be at least four regular players from Kumasi in the Kotoko lineup."

Bediako continued, "I’m not saying that those from outside Kumasi aren't good. Across the Ghana Premier League, players from Kumasi are performing exceptionally well. My point wasn’t solely about coaches; I’m not necessarily looking to coach Kotoko, but I believe I could be successful if given the opportunity.”
