According to reports from Ghanasportspage, Slavko Matic, a Serbian coach, has taken Ghanaian club Accra Hearts of Oak to FIFA for unfair treatment.
The coach, who was asked to stay away from the team, has returned to Serbia. Matic has reportedly hired Cristobal Martell, a well-regarded lawyer who has previously represented high-profile clients such as Lionel Messi and Daniel Alves, to represent him.
Martell is known for his work in tax fraud cases and has been brought in to deal with Hearts of Oak's alleged mistreatment of Matic.
Matic was forced to leave his coaching position after being chased out of training before the team's 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko.
Reports suggest that Hearts of Oak breached the terms of Matic's contract, leading to its cancellation. Matic is reportedly seeking compensation of around 2 million dollars (Gh¢24,777,680.00) for the mistreatment he experienced.
Despite Matic's departure and the cancellation of his contract, Hearts of Oak's management has not yet addressed the issue publicly. Matic took over as head coach in October of last year and supervised 16 games in the Ghanaian league.
