Head coach of FC Samartex, Christopher Ennin has expressed displeasure towards his side’s defeat to Hearts of Oak as he believes they lost as a results of unpardonable mistakes.
The Timber Giants kickstarted match-day 16 of the Ghana Premier League last Friday but unfortunately suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to the giants in a thrilling clash at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The 2024 Ghanaian champions delivered a descent performance but a schoolboy error from Grippman in just six minutes from kickoff after a huge Mawuli Wayo press fell on the path of Hamza Issah who struck into the net the only goal of the game.
In a post-match presser, the enterprising gaffer wasn’t too pleased with the performance of his players both the defenders and attackers as they were wasteful in attack too.
He further added that goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi’s early save did the magic for the ‘Phobians’ as game could have taken a big twist if it had gone in.
“It’s an error that gave them the goal because we conceded, and then it changed the entire game plan,” Ennin said. “I think it’s something we still need to work on. The finishing aspect is also lacking. They are still young, we are building them, so I think we’ll get there.”
“It was a really fantastic save because that would have changed the game altogether. It was within two minutes when we got that opportunity. So I think it’s something that really affected us,” Ennin said after the match.
FC Samartex after the defeat are currently in sixth place with 24 points and will return into the new year with a home game against Young Apostles
