Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum praised his team's tactical execution in their 1-0 win over Accra Lions during match week five of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League, describing it as a "highly tactical" encounter.
Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC will join forces to represent Ghana at the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, D.C., according to GHANAsoccernet.com.
Nsoatreman surged to the ninth place of the Ghana Premier League table with a convincing 3-1 victory over a leaky Legon Cities at Nana Amoah Koronmansa Park.
Needing to right the wrongs of their loss to Asante Kotoko in an outstanding gameweek two, Nsoatreman quickly ensured that defeat lightning would not strike twice, as defender’ Richard Acquah, Walid Neymar Fuseini and Anokye Morrison ripped the Royals to shreds in the first half.
The Efiri Tete Amanaso three first half goals saw Nsoatreman’s relentless pressure pay off after Kwame Aziz was forced into several first-half saves, but the youngster was then powerless to stop a sublime Acquah’s 8th minute opener which paved way for the other two goals to dink home.
Aziz received little to no protection from his disjointed backline, as Legon Cities were all over the shop defensively in the first half and were arguably fortunate to only be three down at half time.
The hosts explosive display would not have been beyond the realm of possibility had the Amanaso been a little bit more clinical.
Chances continued to come the hosts' way after the break - their midfield was particularly lively - although Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side were not going down waving the white flag and came agonisingly - wiping out one goal off with an equaliser in the 89th minute through 19-year-old Mohammed Alidu’s goal.
In the end, though, Legon Cities were condemned to make the long journey home with a consolation to show for their efforts.
Meanwhile, the visitors drop down to 18th spot with just a single point on account of their second straight Ghana Premier League loss, and one that could have easily been more embarrassing on another day.

Mezack Afriyie scored the only goal of the match as Berekum Chelsea recorded a 1-0 victory over Young Apostles in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League fixture at Golden City Park.
The result has left B. Chelsea in fifth spot, boasting eight points in the Ghana Premier League table, just three points ahead of thirteenth-placed Young Apostles, from their 5 matches this term.
The home side remained on the front foot as the first period developed, with that half coming to a closure with no goals.
Samuel Boadu’s side were not to be denied, though, and registered in the 72nd minute through Mezack Afriyie, who found the back of the net stunningly.
The Bibires went in search of a second late on, with Afriyie missing the target from distance, but Apostles were unable to respond, with Afriyie’s effort deciding the contest.
