Swedish club IF Elfsborg have confirmed the signing of highly rated Nigerian midfielder Oladimeji “Muiz” Abdulmuiz, with the 17-year-old set to officially join the team this summer on a long-term contract running until 2029.

The promising youngster earned recognition after impressing at last year’s Gothia Cup, where he featured for Beyond Limits and helped the side win the prestigious youth tournament. His performances attracted interest from several clubs, but Elfsborg ultimately won the race for his signature following successful negotiations.

Reacting to the move, Abdulmuiz expressed excitement about the opportunity to begin the next chapter of his career in Sweden.

“It’s a very nice feeling and I’m happy to be here,” he said in a statement released by the club.

The midfielder, known for his composure on the ball and work rate, described his playing style as one built around controlling the tempo and pushing play forward while contributing defensively when the team is out of possession.

“I simply like to control and play forward, but I’m also good at chasing and putting pressure when we don’t have the ball,” he added.

IF Elfsborg manager Stefan Andreasson revealed that the club had to fend off competition from other suitors before securing the young talent’s services. He confirmed that the player will initially spend time adapting to his new surroundings before completing his formal transition into the senior setup.

“In competition with several clubs, we have now, after good discussions with Beyond Limits, bought out ‘Muiz’ and he has signed a contract until the summer of 2029,” Andreasson said. “He will first be with us during an introductory period to get to know the club, and then the formal transfer will take place in connection with his 18th birthday in June, when he will belong to our A-team squad.”

The move marks a significant step in Abdulmuiz’s development, as he prepares to transition from youth football into the European professional game with one of Sweden’s established top-flight clubs.
