Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been evicted from the CAF Women’s Champions League despite winning their opening two matches, following their defeat to AS FAR Rabat in their final group game.

The Ghanaian champions finished the group stage level on six points with AS FAR and Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies.

However, the result against the Moroccan side proved costly as the ‘Nana Mma’ girls missed out on a place in the next round.

According to the competition’s head-to-head classification rules, results between the three teams were used to determine the final positions, rather than their overall records against all opponents in the group.

AS FAR finished top of the mini-table with a goal difference of +1 after scoring four goals and conceding three in their matches against Ampem Darkoa and Kawempe.

Kawempe followed with a goal difference of zero, while Ampem Darkoa finished third with -1.

Ampem Darkoa had beaten Kawempe 2-1 but lost 2-0 to AS FAR, leaving them with two goals scored and three conceded in the head-to-head standings. The Ghanaian side were therefore eliminated despite their six-point haul.

The outcome brings a disappointing end to Ampem Darkoa’s campaign, while AS FAR and Kawempe Muslim Ladies advance from the group.
