The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed immediate past Asante Kotoko administrative manager, Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as Professional Football Manager.
Newton Dasoberi announced his departure from Asante Kotoko after the end of the 2023/24 season to take up the Professional Football Manager at CAF.
''This is a new role created by CAF and it's an honour to be the first person to serve in this capacity. The Professional Football Manager entails a lot and I love the challenge ahead. I pray for the strength and wisdom to be able to execute by tasks,'' Dasoberi said.
"I will like to use this opportunity to thank the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for giving me his blessings and his words of advise. It's sad leaving Kotoko but there's time for everything and hopefully one day I will return to serve again."
He will begin his new job at the Confederation of African Football on July, 1, 2024.
Dasoberi was hired after a thorough vetting process in which over 100 candidates applied for the position.
His responsibilities will include working on all parts of the CAF Club Licensing System, Stadium Licensing, and League Development, as well as contributing to the Professional Football department's agenda and initiatives. Dasoberi will also review the national club license rules provided by member bodies.
His most recent position was as administrative manager at Asante Kotoko, where he spent five years.
Prior to joining Asante Kotoko, he worked his way up the Ghana Football Association's ranks, eventually becoming deputy general secretary.
