Otto Addo, in his second tenure as Black Stars coach, is determined to instill confidence in his team as they gear up for crucial World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).
The former Borussia Dortmund talent coach, unveiling his squad which includes several promising young talents, has dropped Ghana captain Andre Ayew in favor of nurturing young players and fostering their confidence.
“I want to bring back the joy with the ball, create a culture. Not to be fearful when you have the ball. I know that there is high demands on the players and it is difficult times. There is a lot of pressure on the players, but I want to take the pressure away, allow them to do mistakes because this is the only way on long term that we can give them the confidence to play what they can,” he said.
“It’s my job to bring in a culture, with good habits, good preparation. To prepare them well with my coaching staff . Of course good games don’t just come like this. It comes with good preparation. With my staff’s ideas on the long term we can create a very good Ghanaian national team.”
With the training camp set to commence on May 30, 2024, at the Legon Stadium, Addo aims to implement a culture of good habits and preparation, working closely with his coaching staff to mold a formidable Ghanaian national team.
Following the clash in Mali, the Black Stars will return to Kumasi to face CAR in matches crucial for their Group I standings, where they currently trail Comoros, Mali, and Madagascar.
