The former Ghana international met President Hussein Mwinyi of Zanzibar after touching down in the country.

Gyan took time out to pay a courtesy call on the first gentleman of the Island nation, as was in Zanzibar for personal business dealings.

Gyan aims to help Zanzibar in youth empowerment and unearth, nurture raw football and sports talents in the East African nation and accord them a platform to display and enhance their talent.

Photographs from the meeting show the former Black Stars captain in a hearty conversation with the President.

"Honored to meet His Excellency Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, the President of Zanzibar. An inspiring discussion on sports, youth empowerment, and community development. Looking forward to our collaborative efforts to uplift and inspire the next generation!" Gyan wrote on X.

This is Ghana's all-time leading scorer's second meeting with an African president, having, previously, visited Zimbabwe's head of state Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In June, 2023, the former Sunderland striker hanged up his boots, marking the end of a career spanning two decades after picking up several league titles with individual awards, going ahead to represent Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, helping them finish in third-place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
