Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC have emerged as Africa’s highest-ranked club in the latest IFFHS Men’s Club World Rankings for October 2025, covering performances from October 2024 to September 2025.
The Cairo-based club, who were crowned Egyptian champions last season, placed 57th globally, amassing 199 points to top all African teams. Their strong showing in both domestic and continental competitions earned them recognition as the best-performing club on the continent.
Fellow Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC followed closely, ranking 71st in the world with 183 points, while Morocco’s RSB Berkane came third in Africa and 89th globally after an impressive CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Tunisia’s Esperance ST (102nd worldwide) and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns (121st) completed the top five African clubs in the standings.
The rankings further highlighted the dominance of North African teams, with Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria all heavily represented in the top 20 from Africa. Notably, Zamalek SC (125th), FAR Rabat (170th), and MC Alger (222nd) continued to feature prominently.
In East Africa, Simba SC and Young Africans SC of Tanzania maintained their impressive continental form, ranking 171st and 198th globally, respectively — underscoring Tanzania’s growing influence in African football.
South African sides also made strong appearances, with Orlando Pirates (153rd) and Stellenbosch FC (376th) joining Sundowns in representing the Premier Soccer League.
