The anti-discriminatory body has launched an investigation into an alleged racial abuse on the striker during an away match against the Vimaranenses at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques over the weekend
The Authority for the Prevention and Combating violence in Sport (APCVD) has served notice that its outfit has initiated proceedings through their commission to establish an alleged racial harassment case of Ghana international forward Emmanuel Boateng during a league game between Vitória S.C. and Rio Ave in week 15 fixture of the ongoing Liga Portugal 22/23 football season.
It's understood that the forward became a subject of racial slurs from the home fans and had to lodge a complaint to the referee André Narciso for the game to come to a halt on the 66th minute before it was late continued.
Following a widespread of reportage by the Portuguese media over the incident, a formal investigation has now been launched by the anti-discriminatory body in order to ascertain the authenticity of the issue at hand before the perpetrators are brought to book.
''In view of the news widely disseminated in the media regarding insults of a discriminatory nature and acts of racism in the match between Vitória Sport Clube – Rio Ave Futebol Clube, which took place last Saturday, January 7, at the D. Afonso Henriques stadium in Guimarães, counting for the 15th round of the 1st League, since the denunciation of the practice of illegal acts of a national contraordenature is at issue, the Authority for the Prevention and Combating of Violence in Sport (APCVD) has initiated proceedings for the commission of the commission in order to establish any perpetrators of the facts denounced and the responsibilities arising therefrom,'' a statement from the APCVD reads.
