Young Africans needed a penalty to secure a 1-0 win over Geita Gold on Saturday afternoon and ensure it stayed atop the NBC Premier League.

Yanga was awarded a spot kick for handball when a Geita Gold defender blocked a cross with his right arm, although Geita argued that the ball hit his armpit.

Bernard Morrison calmly converted the penalty straight down the middle in the 45+1' minute for his 2nd NBC Premier League goal this season, which proved enough on a day when Yanga's high-powered attack struggled to make the most of its chances.

The win made sure Nasreddine Nabi’s team will stay in front of closest rivals Namungo and Simba, with Namungo posting 1-1 draw with Tanzania Prisons which was played later Saturday.

Geita remained in ninth place, with manager Fred Felix Minziro lamenting what he called a “very strange” penalty decision awarded to Yanga.

"Come on, you need to understand this, OK, he put his arm close to his chest, but where did the ball touch, his armpit of course," Minziro said.
