Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, closing weeks of speculation as the Black Stars get ready for football’s biggest stage.

The Portuguese trainer locked in his picks after an intense training camp in Cardiff, where players fought for spots ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The last cuts saw goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi and striker Paul Reverson drop out of the traveling group after making the provisional 28-man list.

Queiroz also had to reshuffle his defense late after a setback to veteran centre-back Alexander Djiku. The defender was ruled out of the World Cup following a club injury, which opened the door for Derrick Luckassen to earn a call-up.

The squad shows Queiroz’s plan to mix experience with young talent as Ghana target a strong showing at their fifth World Cup. In goal, Lawrence Ati-Zigi should bring leadership and experience, with Joseph Anang and Benjamin Asare backing him up.

At the back, the team blends seasoned internationals with flexible options like Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Baba Abdul Rahman, and Derrick Luckassen. They’ll be key as Ghana prepare to face some of the tournament’s most dangerous attacks

In midfield, a lot rests on Thomas Partey, whose top-level experience should bring control and guidance. He’s joined by promising young players, including Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who’s growing into one of the country’s most exciting talents.

Up front, captain Jordan Ayew and in-form Man City forward Antoine Semenyo will lead the line. The duo’s experience, pace, and cutting edge will be vital as the Black Stars take on a tough group-stage challenge.

Ghana will face Wales in an international friendly on June 2, 2026 as a preparatory fixture for the upcoming World Cup.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama before they take on England and Croatia in the Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
