Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has expressed gratitude as he confirmed his departure from SC Freiburg at the end of the season, bringing his four-year stay at the Bundesliga club to a close.
The Ghana international will officially become a free agent on June 30, 2026, after both parties mutually agreed to part ways.
Kyereh’s time in Germany was significantly affected by a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in 2023, which kept him out of first-team action for nearly three seasons.
Despite the setback, the 30-year-old midfielder spoke positively about his experience at Freiburg and praised the club for standing by him throughout his rehabilitation.
“I am happy about my time in Freiburg. The team has always supported me, and recently I was taken aback by how the lads in the U23s welcomed me,” Kyereh said during his farewell ceremony.
The attacking midfielder eventually returned to action with Freiburg’s reserve team, where he showed encouraging signs of recovery, scoring four goals in eight appearances as he worked his way back to full fitness.
Kyereh is now expected to prioritise regular playing time as he looks to rebuild his career and push for a return to the Ghana Black Stars setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former FC St. Pauli star remains determined to regain his place in the national team after a long spell on the sidelines.
