The winger of Ghanaian origin was left lamenting over his lack of first-team action with the DIF in the Swedish top-flight having joined them with high hopes of game time in 2019
Swedish-born Ghanaian winger Kofi Fosuhene Asare has said his lack of playing time with the main team set-up of Allsvenskan side Djurgardens IF came as a "surprised" to him as he least envisaged that prior to his transfer move from Hammarby IF in 2019 football season.
The 20-year-old had the chance to train with the first-team, but never saw a game time for the entire season as he was later relegated to the U-19 youth side.
"Quite honestly: Yes, actually I was a little surprised as I really thought I would get the chance, but unfortunately it didn't happen," Asare told Newspaper Helsingborgs Dagblad.
The now Landskrona BoIS player revealed he could have joined fellow top-flight outfit AIK, but decided to repose his trust for his former employers as he wanted to write his "own story" with the A-team ranks.
"I have many friends who play in AIK. I have heard and seen that it is, unfortunately, easier to progress in AIK as a young player. Many people said to me: "You should choose AIK instead, because you would have had the chance with the A team there. But I wanted to write my own story,"
Asare is still eligible to switch allegiance to represent Ghana at the international level despite featuring for the Swedish U-17 national youth teams.
