The 1.96m tall defender has been linked with a summer move to the Cologne-based club, but such transfer speculation has now been shot down by the club's chief

FC Köln Sporting director Christian Keller has pointed out that a move for German-born Ghanaian centre-back Patric Pfeiffer is not a priority for them in the summer, with a left-footed centre-half a preferred choice for their defensive set-up role in the next transfer window.

The 23-year-old defender continues to be a transfer target of many clubs in the German top-flight following his consistency in game outings with the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor outfit in the lower division contest.

However, those in charge of affairs at the RheinEnergieStadion, have now distanced themselves from the race after placing an emphasis on a left-footed defender to be their prime target for next season's campaign.

Killer, who has three right-footed central defenders at his disposal currently, has told Express.de of their desire to recruit a left-footer in the near future: " "In our current central defender quartet we have three right-footed players and one left-footed player comprising of Chabot, Timo Hübers (26), Luca Kilian (23) and Nikola Soldo (21) all prefer the right foot."

He continued; "The four have different profiles in terms of speed, robustness on the man and play structure. If there is a vacancy in central defence, we should also look at the foot, among other things. An additional left foot with high speed would then fit well. Patric Pfeiffer is right-footed.”

Pfeiffer's deal with SV Darmstadt is due to end on June 30, 2023 and could lose him on a free transfer should both parties fail to reach an agreement over fresh terms in the foreseeable future.

He is yet to be capped by Ghana at the international level having switched allegiance to play for them after featuring for the Germany national youth teams.
