The Ghanaian midfield enforcer has said he does turn deaf ears to racial slurs being targeted at him whiles in action on the field of play in the ltalian top-flight contest
Fiorentina defensive midfielder Alfred Duncan has expressed his sorrow over racial harassment he and his African playing mates are still facing in the Italian Serie A league campaign.
The 29-year-old is mystified such awkward behaviours from fans are still being exhibited in modern era of the game as it ought to be a thing of the past judging from how the game has evolved globally.
"I always try not to listen to what they tell me from the outside, it's a decision I made as a footballer, I only have to think about what I do on the pitch. Then we talk about it at the end of the game, otherwise I'll continue on my way," the retired Black Stars enforcer told Italian free-to-air television channel Rai Gulp
He added, "My dream as a child was to get to a fascinating championship like Serie A, having fun like I did on the street with my friends . This allows me to meet new people, from different cultures who teach me many things. Someone like me often thinks about racism. The fight against racism has a great meaning for me: we must fight discrimination, even if it is difficult because in 2022 we are still here talking about it."
Duncan acrimoniously called time on his international career with the four-time African champions in May this year having capped 10 times at the senior national team level, the Black Stars.
