The 27-year-old last line of defense has penned a contract extension with the Swiss top-flight outfit, with the fresh terms set to expire in the next three football campaigns
Ghana international goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi has extended his deal with Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen until June 2027, the club have confirmed.
The agile shot-stopper has so far established himself as the goalposts custodian of the St. Gallen-based club since joining them from FC Sochaux in January 2020.
"FC St.Gallen 1879 has extended the contract with its goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi until the end of the 2026/27 season," a statement over his new deal read.
Sporting director Roger Stilz had nothing but full of praise for the Ghanaian goaltender after tying him down to another fresh terms ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, telling his club's official website: " We are extremely pleased to be able to tie Lawrence to the FCSG on a long-term basis. He is a top performer and impresses not only on the pitch but also outside with his professionalism, prudence and charisma. During our discussions it became clear that there was a desire for an extension on both sides. We are pleased about Lawrence's commitment. This is a great sign for our FCSG."
According to statistics available on transfermakt, Ati Zigi has 5 clean sheets and 44 goals conceded across 32 league game appearances in the ongoing Swiss Super League 23/24 football season.
He has so far earned 17 international caps with the men's senior national team, the Black Stars.
