The German top-tier outfit have handed the promising teenager of Ghanaian origin his first professional contract given his talent as a budding star
Spanish-born Ghanaian youngster Junior Awusi has signed a professional contract with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, with the fresh terms having an option for further extension to a year upon its expiration in June 2026.
The 18-year-old has been a budding prospect for The Eagles since linking up with them at the age of 11 years.
With suitors shooting admiring glances at him, those in charge of the Waldstadion have moved quickly to tie him down to a long-term contract thereby warding off interest from his admirers in a bid to snatch him.
"The winger, who has been with Eintracht since 2017, has signed a professional contract until 30 June 2026. The deal includes an option of a further 12 months," an excerpt over the deal read via the club's official website.
Sporting director Timmo Hardung expressed his delight over tying down their prized asset to new terms as he looks forward to integrating him into the main team ranks going forward.
"We’re pleased that we’ve been able to retain another talented youngster for the coming years in Junior. With his dribbling ability in attack and threat in front of goal, he has an exciting skillset. Our joint task now is to gradually introduce Junior to men’s football so he can show his qualities on a regular basis on the pitch.”
Despite his injury plights, Awusi managed to score 2 and assisted 5 in 13 league game appearances for Frankfurt U19 side during the U19-Bundesliga S/SW 23/24 season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, he still remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level as he's yet to be cap-tied by the Spanish national team.
