Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan says goal scoring should be taught properly, insisting it is a skill that comes through training and not superstition or spiritual help.
The former Black Stars captain says young strikers must be coached and developed step by step if they are to become consistent goal scorers.
“Because goal scoring is an art. It’s not about any pastor praying for you or going to anywhere to do. No, no, no, no. It’s an art,” Gyan said.
Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer, said finishing in front of goal comes from learning, practice, and understanding the game.

“So we have to just groom the young ones, teach them how to score goals. That is how we came out with the art of goal scoring. You know, this is an art,” he added.
The former Sunderland AFC and Al Ain FC striker was known for his sharp finishing and calmness in important moments, making him one of Africa’s most respected marksman.
His comments come at a time when Ghana is still trying to find more reliable strikers for the Black Stars, with concerns about the lack of clinical goal scorers in recent years.
Gyan has often called for better youth training systems and improved coaching for attackers, saying proper guidance is important for producing the next generation of goal scorers.
