The 36-year-old former Ghana international Baba Armando has declared that the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars will never see the end of their trophyless jinx if management members of the team continue embezzling monies due to playing bodies.
The nimble left footed forward believes the dubious means deployed by the Black Stars management body by spending the bonuses of players is acting as a curse which prevents the four-time African Champions in winning a single trophy for the past three decades.
Baba Armando together with other four playing mates ( Philemon McCarthy,Baffuour Gyan,Aziz Ansah and Yussis Chibsah) have all been denied their prize money as standby players during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
And now, the former FK Rostov frontman is highy infuriated by the treatment meted out to them by the Ghana FA and has questioned their competence in handling the affairs of the game tagging them as useless.
"If you continue cheating players by spending monies due them, how do you expect the nation to prosper with this dubious act? Somebody who has sweated for his money by rendering his services to the nation and in return, the nation pays him from their tax paying monies deserves to benefit from it," Armando questioned in an interview with Angel FM.
"Even playing in charity games;players do receive their bonuses and how much more on national assignment? he asked.
"I do remember during our time when we went for the World Cup,there was a prize money of 1.5million dollars for each group stage match and 4.5million dollars in all three games, apart from the add-ons should a team progresses to the next stage," he remarked.
"If all these funds were available and paying each player an amount of 50,000 dollars instead of 250,000 dollars after even deducting the 200,000 dollars on every player's money becomes a problem; then what is the use of those working as management of the Black Stars at the FA? They are nothing but useless people as that," he fumed.
The 2006 FIFA Mundial in Germany was Ghana's maiden appearance in the history of the tournament.
