Ghana’s Black Stars, will depart Casablanca later today (Tuesday, October 7) for Meknes, where they face the Central African Republic (CAR) in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

The squad has been based in Casablanca since Sunday, holding a series of intensive training sessions at the Mohammed V Sports Complex under head coach Otto Addo and his technical team. Around 20 players took part in Monday’s session as preparations near completion.

The match, scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, at 16:00 GMT, will be played at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes.

Ghana currently sit top of Group I with 19 points, three clear of their nearest challengers — Madagascar, and know that a win would take them a major step closer to securing a place at the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars have appeared at four previous World Cups — Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014, and Qatar 2022 — and are looking to make it five appearances in seven editions.

Addo and his players are expected to hold one final training session in Meknes on Tuesday evening before the game, with team morale reported to be high following a strong run of results in recent qualifiers.

Ghana will then return home to Accra for their final group match against Comoros, a fixture that could determine their qualification fate.
