Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has spoken of the deeper significance behind the 2025 Democracy Cup, framing the tie not just as a football match but as a proud celebration of Ghana’s democratic journey.
“The most important part of this dispensation is to see Ghana as the pinnacle of democracy in Africa,” Dramani said. “We’re preparing a team that can compete for every trophy in the upcoming season.”
For the Phobians, the one-off fixture offers more than pre-season preparation. Dramani views it as both a symbolic platform and a competitive test.
“We see it as a privilege to be the face of Ghana’s democracy, I mean using football,” he explained.
“Promoting democracy through football is an honour. For us, this game comes at a perfect time as we prepare for the league, giving us both the competitive edge and the opportunity to celebrate our values as a nation.”
The Hearts boss also offered an insight into his coaching philosophy, insisting that mentality and decision-making matter more than any tactical blueprint.
“I don’t believe it is systems that win games, but rather the mentality of the players and the decisions they make on the pitch,” he said.
Looking further ahead, Dramani emphasised the role of football in shaping players’ lives well beyond the field.
“Our focus now is to help the players understand that we are shaping them for greatness. What they do both on and off the pitch is equally important to their growth and success,” he concluded.
For Hearts, the Democracy Cup is being treated as a statement of intent: a chance to celebrate national values while sharpening their ambition for titles in the upcoming season.
