Former GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has called for a definitive interpretation of the Ghana Football Association’s statutes as debate grows over whether president Kurt Okraku can seek a third term in office.

Fianoo argued that the issue demands transparency to avoid potential disputes and safeguard the credibility of football governance in the country.

“There are some points that we need to unlock. Is it applicable to the incumbent now, or is it going to be implemented in the future?” he asked. “These are the naughty areas that need clarification. Once the clarification comes, whatever we do will be in the supreme interest of the country.”

The former football administrator also recalled inconsistencies in the past, noting that even the GFA itself had previously denied the existence of a third-term provision.

“Even the GFA, at one point in time, denied that there was something like that on paper. When we get to that bridge, we’ll cross it,” he added.

The uncertainty arrives at a time when Ghanaian football remains deeply divided on questions of leadership and reform. A clear ruling on Okraku’s eligibility, observers say, could help frame the tone of future elections and restore trust in the FA’s democratic processes.
