Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has revealed government’s intention to construct a new state-of-the-art stadium at Borteyman as part of broader efforts to enhance Ghana’s sporting infrastructure.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Adams noted that existing facilities remain inadequate, emphasizing the urgent need for bold investment in modern sports infrastructure.

“We are looking at building a new stadium around the Borteyman space because we want to elevate that whole place into a sports city, a sports village,” he stated.

According to the Minister, the proposed stadium will have a minimum seating capacity of 50,000 and is achievable within President John Mahama’s first term in office.

The facility is expected to complement the Borteyman Sports Complex, which was originally constructed for the 2023 African Games in Accra, and will serve as a central hub for both domestic competitions and international sporting events.
