The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has said that the extension of the GFA's Presidential term was proposed by the clubs and other member bodies.
Harrison Addo in an interview with Asempa FM disassociated the country's football governing body from imposing the proposal on its members, as fueled by the media for the past weeks.
He also addressed speculation that the proposal was aimed at paving the way for current GFA President Kurt Okraku to seek a third term.
His comments follow a proposal by the GFA’s Statute Review Committee recommending an increase in the presidential term from two to three terms. The proposal is expected to be considered at the 31st Ordinary Congress slated for August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
“The decision to extend the Ghana Football Association presidential term in office was proposed by clubs, RAG [Regional Associations Group] leadership, and other congress members,” Harrison Addo told Asempa FM.
“This wasn’t initiated by the GFA. In fact, the proposal was made three years ago,” he added
