The colourful investiture ceremony of the record Ghanaian goalscorer took place on Wednesday at the Pelican Hotel in Accra to mark the grand achievement of the iconic figure for his new role by the nation's football governing body 

Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has been unveiled as Ambassador for Ghana’s National Teams and Colts Football by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The high-profile recognition of the former Black Stars goal machine aims to see him spearheading promotional campaigns, fan engagement initiatives, and strategic corporate partnerships aimed at rallying Ghanaians behind the Black Stars while promoting Colts football  - the foundation of the nation’s football future, and also represent the Football Association at key engagements and champion initiatives designed to deepen national support for Ghana football.

Right after his unveiling, the African revered iconic figure had this to say: ''I am truly honoured by this recognition,” Gyan said emotionally.

“I want to thank the President and the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association for believing in me and entrusting me with this responsibility. Ghana football has given me everything, and I will continue to serve this country with passion and dedication.”

He added by touching on the need to invest in grassroots football so as to nurture the young talents in reaching their full potential: “Grassroots football is the foundation of every successful football nation,” the former Al Ain goal poacher noted.

“We must invest in young talents, create opportunities for them, and give them hope. I want to appeal to corporate Ghana to support football development because the future of our game depends on what we build today,'' he added.

The Ghana FA president Simeon-Kurt Okraku commented: ''For nearly two decades, he carried the hopes, dreams, expectations and emotions of millions of Ghanaians on his shoulders.

“To this day, Asamoah Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time leading scorer and Africa’s highest scorer at the World Cup  - a record that speaks not merely to greatness, but to consistency, longevity and unwavering commitment to country.”

The successful ceremony saw dignitaries including experienced Ghanaian coach J. E. Sarpong and former Black Stars players like Baffour Gyan, Stephen Appiah, Prince Tagoe,  Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu and Tony Baffoe - all gracing the occasion.
