Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku insists that Kwesi Nyantakyi must be given a standing ovation for leading the Black Stars to three World Cups.

Ghana qualified for their maiden World Cup in 2006 before securing 2010 and 2014 appearances at the mundial under the erstwhile Kwesi Nyantekyi-led administration.

Ghana qualified from the group stage in 2006 before Brazil eliminated them in the round 16.

In 2010 South Africa, Ghana equalled Africa's best run at the mundia, by exiting in the quarter finals to Diego Forland's Uruguay.

Unfortunately, with the progressive improvements in the World Cup finals since 2006, Ghana failed to qualify from the group stage in Brazil 2014 after monetary issues destabilise their camp.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was voted into office in 2005 and steered the affairs of the Association for 13years before his corruption-laden ending in 2018.

He was banned by FIFA after ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposé highlighted the rot under his tutelage.

Kurt Okraku took over as the GFA Capo in 2019, after the work of the interim FIFA Normalization Committee headed by Dr. Kofi Amoah.

Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar this year, after failing to qualify for the 2018 global showpiece in Russia.

Kurt Okraku says Kwesi Nyantakyi deserves a standing ovation for leading Ghana to qualify for three successive World Cups.

“Let me say 'ayekoo' to our former president, Nyantakyi who took Ghana to the world in 2006, 2010, and 2014," he said at the Talent Identification project launch.

"If we understand what it means to be at the Mundial, we will give Kwesi Nyantakyi a standing ovation," he insisted.
