Ghana FA Vice President, Mark Addo has admitted they have received over 500 applications for the Black Stars vacant job and added by assuring Ghanaians of selecting the best candidate to lead the team.
The Ghana senior men national team after sacking of Chris Hughton, are currently without a substantive coach who will supervise affairs in subsequent assignments.
The four-time African champions suffered another group stage eviction after amassing just two points from three matches; losing to Cape Verde in their opening game before subsequently sharing spoils with Egypt and Mozambique.
With this, the Ghana FA after the jettisoning of the former Brighton gaffer, have set up a committee led by Mark Addo, who have been tasked to search for a new coach for the national team.
In an interview on Akoma FM in Kumasi, the Ghana FA second boss confirmed they have over 500 applicants who have exhibited strong interest in the Black Stars job but added they will take their time and choose the best option for the job.
"This is my second time leading a committee to pick a coach, and I can tell Ghanaians that we will hire the Best coach for the Black Stars according on the criteria.
"We received over 500 applications for the job and have shortlisted a handful. We are currently going through them and want to finish by next week.
"Nobody wants outcomes more than we (the FA), believe me; it just so happens that things don't always go as planned for various reasons, but we must keep moving forward", he concluded
