Medeama SC head coach, Augustine Evans Adortey has expressed worry over playing their Champions League home matches in Cape Coast and believes they would have been more fearsome in Tarkwa.
The Mauves and Yellows will host Guinean giants Horoya AC in the final qualifying round of the CAF Champions League on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
In the first round against Remo Stars FC of Nigeria, the Ghanaian champions moved their home game from their favourite base Tarkwa to Cape Coast where they recorded a narrow 1-0 win.
In an interview ahead of the game, the experience tactician wishes they play in front of their home fans and believes they will be more explosive and dangerous if they get them behind them in their Africa campaign.
"Sometimes it affects us because comparing games being played in Tarkwa, with our fans rallying behind us and looking at what transpired the other time. You could see the stadium was empty, dead. Even when we scored the only goal I didn’t hear shouts from supporters pushing us to score more."
"The stadium was quiet. It sometimes affects the players but to me as a coach, it happens. The only thing I want is to give my team a massive win."
The game is scheduled for 15:00GMT at the Cape Coast Stadium.
