Former Black Queens coach, Nora Hauptle has disclosed that she left her role after she failed to come to consensus for a contract renewal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Reports in the Ghanaian media indicated that the Swiss tactician rejected a two-year contract extension due to indifferences concerning insufficient preparations, which includes lack of friendlies and other vital activities to make sure the team rakes favourable outcome in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
However, speaking to 20 Minutes, a Swiss daily newspaper, Hauptle (41), revealed that certain things were not clear to her which made it difficult to come to terms with.
“It wasn’t easy to give up the project.
"My contract was running out at the end of the year and we had discussions. But there were a few pieces of the puzzle that were not clear, which were relevant to my success.
“I can’t just make compromises but nothing happened; we are parting on good terms and with a lot of respect for each other."
Under Hauptle's watch were she was in charge for one-year, the Black Queens secured qualification to the their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification since 2018.
She has since taken charge as head coach of Zambia following her departure from Ghana. Hauptle will be in the dugout for the Copper Queens in this year's WAFCON.
