Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has according to media reports extended invitations to six locally-based players for the upcoming four-nation tournament scheduled to take place in England.

The selected players include Berekum Chelsea talisman Stephen Amankona, Kotoko duo Kwame Poku, Ntim Manu, Hearts of Oak goalie Benjamin Asare, and Medeama defender Kamaradin Mamudu—all of whom have impressed in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season. Their call-ups reflect the technical team’s renewed focus on rewarding top-performing home-based talents with opportunities at the senior national level.

The tournament, which is set to provide Ghana with crucial international exposure ahead of future competitive fixtures, will also serve as a platform for these players to prove their worth and potentially secure permanent spots in the Black Stars setup.

The four-nation tournament, featuring the four-time African champions and their rivals Nigeria as well as Caribbean sides Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, is dubbed "The Best in the West – the Afro Classico Contest.”

The competition will involve two semifinal games with the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 27 pitting Trinidad and Tobago versus Jamaica fixture in an all-Caribbean affair.

The following day, May 28, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Black Stars of Ghana to determine who has the bragging rights in West Africa.

The four teams will play again on Saturday, May 31, in a double-header with two games to decide who will take the bronze place, followed by the final to see who will lift the Unity Cup 2025.
