Godwin Ablordey, assistant coach of King Faisal, believes that it would be premature to judge the performance of Black Stars coach Chris Highton based on the recent match against Madagascar.
According to Ablordey, a proper evaluation can only be made at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations if Ghana successfully qualifies for the tournament.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Fox FM, Ablordey expressed the need to wait until the AFCON tournament to make a fair assessment of Highton's work.
He emphasized the significance of the tournament for Ghana, as the national team has been longing to win the African Cup for an extended period.
"We can only properly assess the coach at the AFCON tournament if we qualify. How many games has he played now? I think three, and these are qualification games," Ablordey stated.
He advocated for patience with the coach and proposed that the AFCON would serve as the appropriate platform to judge his performance if Ghana secures qualification.
"So I think we should be patient with him and see what happens at the AFCON if we are able to make it," he added.
Ghana will secure qualification for next year's tournament in Ivory Coast with a win or draw in their September match against the Central African Republic.
