Top-four hopefuls Hearts of Oak will endeavour to claim maximum points for the second time from a team that they have not defeated since May, 2019, when they play host to Karela at Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday night.
The two teams met for the first time since November 4, 2023, when Hamza Issah equalized in the 40th minute to help the Phobians secure a 1-1 draw stalemate.
Although Hearts of Oak are "a long way behind" table-toppers Samartex and second placed Nations FC "off their perch" in the eyes of new board members, rebounding aspirations have grown in recent days following an abysmal three-game losing streak.
Suffering defeats at the hands of Samartex and Bibiani Gold Stars and were followed by last Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at Medeama, a game in which dependable defender Kobina Amoah scored in the mid-stages of the game before Godfred Abban notched the second goal for the Yellow and Mauves on the 82-minute mark.
Hearts of Oak are now breathing down the necks of bitter-rivals’ Asante Kotoko, who sit just one point ahead of them in 10th and are in action this weekend, while Karela United in 14th currently are behind the Phobians with two-point.
The small matter of the Ghanaian Super Clash is on the horizon, but Hearts of Oak must first shift their attention to Saturday's clash with Karela and they will be confident of success considering that they have won ones, lost four and drawn six of their last eleven Premier League meetings with the Pride and Passion.
