Basake Holy Stars backed up their midweek heroics against Asante Kotoko with another impressive performance on Sunday afternoon, sealing a narrow but deserved 1–0 win over Nations FC at the AAK II Sports Arena in Ampain.

Fresh from a confidence-boosting 2–1 win over Kotoko, the Big Holy maintained their spark with a disciplined display, capped by a decisive strike from in-form forward Prince Tweneboah, whose 80th-minute effort proved the difference. The attacker, who is now on five goals for the campaign continued his purple patch after also scoring in the outstanding matchweek 3 fixture last Wednesday.

The hosts started the match in commanding fashion, asserting control through an aggressive press that kept Nations FC pinned back for long stages. Basake Holy Stars’ intent was clear from the outset as they pushed to build on their newfound winning methodology.

Despite their territorial dominance, clear-cut chances were limited until the closing stages, when Tweneboah found space inside the box and rifled home confidently to ignite celebrations across the AAK II Sports Arena.

Nations FC attempted to respond and produced brief flashes of hope, but their attacking efforts lacked cutting edge, and Coach Frimpong Manso’s men failed to convert the few openings they managed to carve out.

Basake Holy Stars held firm under late pressure, showing maturity and hunger to protect their advantage until the final whistle, securing their third win of the season. The victory lifts them to 15th place with 12 points after 12 matches, as they climb out of the relegation zone with a renewed sense of purpose.

Nations FC, meanwhile, continue to struggle for consistency. With three wins, four draws, and five defeats, they now sit 12th on the Premier League table with 13 points after 12 rounds.
