Hearts of Oak board member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed strong confidence in the club's head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, despite the team's difficult start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Ouattara has faced mounting pressure from supporters following consecutive defeats in Hearts’ opening two matches.
The Phobians suffered a 1-0 loss to Basake Holy Stars on matchday one and were then defeated by Heart of Lions on the road, leading to frustration among the fan base and calls for the Ivorian coach to be sacked.
However, Nyaho-Tamakloe remains optimistic that Ouattara will overcome these early challenges and silence his critics.
“The coach has been given the freedom by the board to select his own players and train them, and that is exactly what he's doing. If we have lost two matches, that doesn't mean we have failed, or that the coach has failed,” Nyaho-Tamakloe told Angel TV.
“I don’t believe that. I strongly believe that the way they are playing now, they will soon gel beautifully, and all these doubting Thomases will see that it takes time to train players. All I’ll tell the supporters is that they should just be patient.”
Hearts of Oak currently sit at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League table and will face Bechem United in their next fixture as they look to turn their season around.
