Despite the high hopes that the former BA United left-back would spearhead Prosper Nartey Ogum's side to a 24th consecutive Ghana Premier League title, it never worked out for Charles Owusu, who was blighted by injuries during his time in Kumasi.

Owusu, 27, joined the Porcupine Warriors in October, 2021 and was assigned to don the No 17 jersey but failed to live up to expectations, and was eventually sacked by the Ghana Premier League powerhouse.

He went ahead to join Bofoakwa Tano before the start of the 2023/24 season but failed to make any appearances for the club due to injury.

However, in an interview with Kessben FM, the ex-Porcupine Warrior opened up about how his injuries led to his demise at Kotoko and not kicking a ball after joining Bofoakwa ahead of the start of last season.

“My season with Kotoko was plagued by injuries. I couldn’t live up to expectations because of persistent injuries. The whole of last season I was unable to play football due to injury setbacks. I’m praying to secure a move in order to partake in the 2024/25 football season."
