The title race is tantalisingly in the balance between Aduana Stars, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, the battle for a top four is becoming crowded while at the bottom of the table, Kotoko Royals and Tamale City are jostling for a place outside of the relegation zone.
Kickgh.com provides 3 things to watch out for this weekend.
Can lethargic Chelsea finally put in a good first-half?
What has happened to Berekum Chelsea? They looked solid in the first few games of the Premier League season, but now they look tired and lacking real creativity. Weirdly, Chelsea have struggled in the first-half of matches rather than the second-half, which isn't what you'd expect from a tired team. Perhaps it shows they still have character and fight under boss Ennin Christopher.
The Berekum outfit have been massively let down in their last five fixtures in all competitions during the first-half, thankfully coming back to rescue something from the games against Accra Great Olympics and Karela United.
Coming up against an improved Accra Lions side this weekend, have the Bibiries the wherewithal to cause an upset?
Slavko Matic returns to Hearts bench
The Serbian gaffer will resume his role as manager on Sunday against Samartex after returning to the country on Friday. Matic sought for a medical leave after his side’s 2-1 loss to Bechem United at the Cape Coast stadium. That was his first defeat as Hearts boss. He will have the opportunity to reestablish himself as one of the best tactical brains in the division on Sunday. One thing is certain, when Matic is on the bench, the Phobians treats us with an aesthetic football and Sunday will be no exception.
Kotoko could fall out of the top four
Kotoko head to the Duns Park to play Bibiani Goldstars on Monday and while most pressure is on Seydou Zerbo’s men in the title race, three points for the Porcupine Warriors would be massive.
Kotoko have wobbled in recent weeks and have found themselves reeled in by Hearts, Bibiani Goldstars and Accra Lions - they are only two points ahead of sixth-placed RTU. A defeat at Bibiani could see them drop from the top four.
Hearts and Accra Lions are favourites for their respective matches this weekend meaning if Kotoko lose, they will have serious work to do to ensure CAF inter-club competition will be played at the Baba Yara Sports stadium next season.
