Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has commended Mr. Kurt Okraku for his positive impact on women's football in the country.
Under the leadership of Mr. Okraku, who currently serves as the president of the GFA, women's football in Ghana has witnessed significant improvement.
Despite his differences with Okraku and his current campaign to contest for the GFA presidential seat against him, George Afriyie expressed praise for the incumbent's efforts in advancing women's football.
"I lose nothing by speaking the truth. Kurt Okraku has improved our women’s football and it is something he must be applauded for," he told Asempa FM.
"In the past, our Women’s League and clubs were not performing but today, they are doing well under Kurt Okraku and I will praise him for that," he added.
The recent success of Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, who won the WAFU Zone B Women's Championship and subsequently represented Ghana in the CAF Women's Champions League, serves as a testament to the progress of women's football in the country.
Furthermore, under the coaching of Nora Häuptle, the Black Queens have shown impressive performances, remaining unbeaten since her appointment seven months ago. They are now focused on securing qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
