Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has voiced his dissatisfaction with his side’s overall performance, despite guiding the Phobians to a commanding 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Goals from Mawuli Wayo, Martin Karikari, and Kelvin Asibey sealed Hearts’ most convincing win of the season, a result that briefly propelled them into second place on the Ghana Premier League table. However, the emphatic scoreline did little to mask the concerns of the highly demanding tactician.
“I wasn’t too happy,” Dramani admitted in his post-match reaction, making it clear that the result alone did not meet his expectations.
While welcoming the clean sheet and margin of victory, the Hearts boss stressed that several aspects of his team’s play still require improvement.
“It’s good that we recorded our first 3-0 win, but we still have to be more clinical,” he explained. “We need to be more conventional and make the right decisions in very key moments of the game.”
Dramani’s critique focused largely on tactical discipline and structure, particularly without the ball. He emphasized the importance of defensive organisation and clarity in pressing phases.
“I pay close attention to the small details of the game,” he noted. “Our defensive structure, our identity when we don’t have the ball, and how we win possession in higher areas are things I take very seriously.”
The coach reiterated that these fundamentals form the backbone of his football philosophy and are non-negotiable in his approach.
“These are key aspects I don’t take lightly. I really emphasize them,” he stressed.
Despite the positive league position, Dramani’s comments underline a manager prioritising sustained performance and tactical consistency over short-term success. With an upcoming clash against Bechem United, Hearts of Oak can expect further refinements as their coach pushes for a team capable of fully executing his long-term vision.
