Asante Kotoko attacker Albert Amoah has spoken about how difficult it was for him to leave the club earlier this season.
The 25-year-old moved to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi after Kotoko were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup, following a heavy defeat to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club in the second preliminary round.
Amoah has now returned to Kotoko on loan for the rest of the season.
Speaking to the club’s media team, he admitted the exit was a painful one.
“It was difficult leaving, especially because of how it ended in Morocco,” he said. “I didn’t even know how to respond to messages.”
The former Great Olympics striker also said the support from Kotoko fans has lifted his spirits since his return.
“Knowing that so many fans are counting on me has given me a huge boost, and I hope to repay their faith,” Amoah added.
Amoah is expected to be handed a starting berth when Asante Kotoko face Basake Holy Stars in their Matchday 20 Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, January 25.
