Young Apostles have stepped back from their earlier threat to boycott the Ghana Premier League, confirming they will continue competing despite concerns over refereeing.
The 'Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi' boys had hinted at withdrawing after a controversial 2–2 draw with Hohoe United in Matchday 19, citing frustration over what they called unfair officiating.
Speaking on Asempa FM, CEO Gerald Damoah Domfeh said the club had reviewed the situation and decided to stay in the league.
“We had a meeting to review our performance in the first half of the season with management, and we have come to the conclusion that we will not boycott the league,” Domfeh said. “We will continue to play and compete well in the league.”
Domfeh admitted the initial boycott threat was made in the heat of the moment after the Hohoe United match.
“Our initial decision was based on grievances over unfair officiating. We were not happy with some of the things that were happening, and that influenced my decision to go on radio and threaten a boycott,” he explained.
He also issued an apology for his earlier comments.
“I apologise for my earlier remarks in which I threatened to boycott playing in the Premier League,” he added.
With the matter now settled, Young Apostles will focus on Matchday 20, where they face Dreams FC at Tuba Astro Turf on Friday, January 23.
