Communications Director of Young Apostles Alhaji Mahama Banda has explained why Young Apostles plan to show up for their Ghana Premier League match against Dreams FC but will not play the game.

The decision follows strong complaints about refereeing standards. Earlier, club CEO Gerald Domfeh announced that Young Apostles would boycott the rest of their league matches due to what he described as poor officiating.

Speaking on Peace FM, Mahama Banda said the decision was taken after a meeting held a day after their Matchday 19 draw against Hohoe United at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.

“Yesterday Monday, a day after last Sunday’s poor officiating in Wenchi, we held a meeting in the morning,” he said.

“Management concluded that for the game against Dreams on Sunday in Accra, we shall come to Accra alright, take part in the pre-match meeting and dress the players for the field. They won’t kick the ball; they will just be on the field.”

The 2–2 draw with Hohoe United left the club unhappy with refereeing decisions, adding to their frustration this season.

Young Apostles are currently 15th on the league table with 22 points. They are scheduled to face Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf in Matchday 20.
