Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a Board Member of Hearts of Oak, has strongly criticized the recently sacked coach, Martin Koopman, labeling him as bitter and frustrated.
The 67-year-old Dutch trainer, dismissed after just four months in charge, accused the Board Members of influencing his team selections.
Koopman alleged, "They named three players, but they later changed it to seven players. They told me not to use them because they didn’t believe them and they could not help me in the competition," he said in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
Denying these claims, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe refuted any board interference in team selection. He asserted that Koopman's accusations were false and motivated by bitterness over his termination due to non-performance.
According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, Koopman and his technical director ignored the club's hierarchy, made independent decisions about players, and even asked some to leave the team, claiming they were not up to standard.
"He is immature, frustrated, and bitter, he is a complete liar because of all the names he mentioned one can check from the Ghana Football Association or even our records to see whether they have not been featured since he came," Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe remarked.
The board member expressed surprise at Koopman's complaint about the lack of good wingers and attackers, emphasizing that if a coach identifies weaknesses, the solution is training and improvement rather than complaining. He concluded that Koopman's reluctance to replace underperforming players ultimately contributed to his failure, and the blame lies with him, not the board.
