Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper Mohammed Camara has emerged as a key transfer target for Orlando Pirates as the South African club looks to strengthen their squad ahead of the summer window.
The Soweto-based outfit are reportedly prioritizing reinforcements in goal, and with Camara’s contract set to expire in June, the Pirates are planning to snap up the 25-year-old on a free transfer. His impressive performances in recent months have put him firmly on their radar.
Camara played a crucial role in Kotoko’s recent title-winning campaigns, contributing to victories in the Ghana FA Cup, Champion of Champions trophy, and the Toyota Cup in South Africa, where he made decisive saves in a high-pressure penalty shootout.
So far this season, Camara has appeared in 13 Ghana Premier League fixtures, conceding only nine goals and recording eight clean sheets, highlighting his reliability and commanding presence between the posts.
His performances at club level have also earned him a place in the Guinea national team, where he featured in friendly matches against Togo and Niger last November. With his current deal approaching its end, a move abroad seems likely, and Orlando Pirates are reportedly ready to capitalize on the opportunity to sign one of West Africa’s most talented goalkeepers.
