Former captain of Asante Kotoko Michael Akuffo has urged the club to do more to prevent psychological and mental health problems amid their current status in the Ghana Premier League.

Akuffo, a former cult hero of the club, said: “The game is changing, and clubs must adjust. We need to change our mode of doing things, especially big clubs like Kotoko. They need a psychologist working behind the scenes.”

Akuffo, a former midfielder of King Faisal also said that some of the players might be facing their own psychological health struggles, which has been a “growing issue” and added: "Danlad, as the senior player and captain, needs to gather the boys and let them know they need to get out of this situation. If the pressure is on the coach, the same pressure is on the players," he added.

The Porcupine Warriors have gone sixth game without recording a win, having lost five and drawn one prior to their next game against league leaders Samartex in match-week 27 fixture.
