Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu says he is pleased with his side’s toughness after the Porcupine Warriors battled from two goals down to earn a 2–2 draw with Medeama in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Kotoko looked in trouble early at the Baba Yara Stadium as Medeama struck inside five minutes, Derrick Fordjour smashing home a volley after the hosts failed to clear their lines. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 18th minute when Yussif Mubarik calmly slotted in from the penalty spot, leaving Kotoko stunned.

The Porcupine Warriors struggled to find their feet in the game before the break but returned with renewed urgency. Their efforts were rewarded in the 69th minute when Peter Amidu Acquah reacted quickest in the box, firing in to halve the deficit and spark belief among the supporters.

Kotoko continued to apply heavy pressure and, deep into stoppage time, captain Samba O’Neil rose high to nod in a dramatic equaliser in the 95th minute, sending the stadium into raptures.

“I’m happy. We couldn’t go out losing all the three points. It was very tough for us, but the boys gave a good fight in the second half to draw. We are very happy with the results,” Owusu said after the match.

“We’ve been all over the country considering our schedule, and to perform against one of the best teams in the league, I think the boys have done well.”

The result keeps Kotoko fifth on the Ghana Premier League table with 21 points after 12 matches. The Porcupine Warriors next travel to face Hohoe United in matchweek 13 as they aim to build on their spirited comeback.
